THE

OPPORTUNITY

With the immense growth we have seen in Florida throughout the past several decades, we are faced with the challenge of providing water to meet the demands of our growing population.

According to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, between 2020 and 2040 there will be an increased demand of 23% on our water supply. Without a solution, Florida could fall short on drinking water.

By 2030, Florida’s demand for fresh water is estimated to increase by about 28% compared to 2005 levels, and traditional sources of ground water will be unable to meet this new demand.

The St. Johns River currently provides drinking water for many communities in Central Florida and along the East Coast of Florida.

Redirecting water from discharges to its historical flow path in the St. Johns will restore supplies and reduce the burden on the Floridan Aquifer.
